Natural Horse Care

At Haven Horsemanship, we keep horses in a variation of a paddock paradise or track system (researched and founded by Jamie Jackson). The idea is to return domestic horses to life as close as we can to what they would have in the wild. This includes:

  • Friends and Social Interaction – our horses live in a herd 24/7 and 365

  • Freedom of Movement – our horses are only ever contained in small areas for health reasons and hay, shelter, water, rolling areas, etc. are spread out over the property to encourage movement

  • Forage – horses have access 24/7 to free choice low NSC grass hay

We currently have a herd of 11 horses on the property ranging from a 10-year-old 13.3 hand APHA to a 17-year-old 18 hand mustang to a 23 year old OTTB. We currently have 3 mares and 8 geldings in the herd. All horses are barefoot. The horses have ample shelter (one 12x24 shelter and an 18x64 shed row) and 4 acres of modified track system to roam. They have 24/7 free choice access to low NSC meadow grass hay, water stations, get the appropriate amount of daily ration balancer and salt, etc.

We offer tours of our property to those wanting to learn more about natural horse care,  herd living, track systems/paddock paradise, etc. both virtually and in person. Click here to inquire about a tour.

I provide consulting services to horse people who are looking to re-arrange their current property to include more natural care elements OR are looking to purchase a new property and want help planning and building out the horse amenities. This can include helping look for the perfect property, property layouts to show how a property could be set up, cost estimates to build out each portion, referrals to contractors to carry out the projects, etc.

  • Virtual consultations are $75/hour

  • In person consultations are $100/hour

  • I will aid you in your property search for a referral fee
